Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some common questions asked about eyelid surgery:
What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure where excess skin, fat and muscle is carefully removed from the eyelids. The procedure can be carried out on both the upper and lower eyelids.
Is the procedure carried out by someone qualified?
Both the initial consultation and procedure will be carried out by Dr Almousa, a highly regarded Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon.
What are the risks of eyelid surgery?
With all medical procedures there can be risks involved. However, complications like puffiness, bruising or blurred vision are usually only temporary.
How long does the procedure take?
Eyelid surgery usually takes between 1-2 hours to perform. This will also depend on what procedure you have chosen.
Is the procedure painful?
Prior to the treatment you will be given a local anaesthetic and during the procedure you may feel some pressure around your eye. However, for most of the time you should feel comfortable and not in any pain.
Can I wear contact lenses or make up after surgery?
You will not be able to wear your contact lenses or eye make up for about 1-2 weeks after the surgery.
Will I need to keep on having eyelid surgery?
As we get older, eyelids become more prominent as part of the natural ageing process. However, the more youthful appearance achieved by the procedure should endure for about 10 years.
Cost of Blepharoplasty
The cost of eyelid surgery depends on your choice of procedure. The exact price will be quoted to you after your consultation. However, treatment costs start from £3,500.
